Mr. Farid Saydee

Mr. Farid SaydeeMr. Sayad Farid Saydee – a native of Afghanistan and an American national – is multilingual and speaks Dari, Farsi, English, Pashtu, and Urdu. His extensive teaching experience includes in-depth faculty expertise in teaching elementary and intermediate programmes …to advance Pashtu and Dari languages, in a variety of national academic arenas.

Latterly he developed curricula and syllabi, and -today- teaches classes in Afghan cultural issues at San Diego State University (SDSU) in California. Prior to joining SDSU in 2008, Mr. Saydee had a six year tenure as an Employment Coordinator for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in San Diego, and provided employment related services to the newly arrived refugees in the United States, including job readiness trainings.

In 2005 Mr. Saydee was named one of the two national recipients of the Sarlo Foundation Distinguished Humanitarian Service Award. This was for his “distinguished contribution to the cause of the IRC”. At the award ceremony in San Francisco, which was hosted by Tom Brokaw, Mr. Saydee was recognized by California’s First Lady Maria Shriver.

Mr. Saydee earned a degree in pharmacy from Kabul University (B.S.,1989) and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (M.B.A. 2010 ) at the University of Phoenix where he majored in Global Management. As the requirement toward fulfillment for the MBA degree, he developed his thesis/work of excellence on “Establishing a graduate degree level institution in Kabul, Afghanistan.”

In addition, Mr. Saydee completed (a) Curriculum Development and Educational Leadership Training offered by SDSU and Southern Area International Languages Network (SAILN), San Diego, CA; (b) TEFL/TOSEL English Teacher Training offered by SDSU; (c) Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) offered by American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

Currently he is a Doctoral candidate working toward the completion of a Ph.D. in Education at San Diego State University.
